President Bola Tinubu has approved the North-Central Development Commission (NCDC) Bill, paving the way for the establishment of a commission aimed at driving growth in the region.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the development during a plenary session, expressing optimism that the commission would facilitate grassroots development.

Meanwhile, President Tinubu declined to sign the Federal University of Education Numan, Adamawa State (Establishment) Bill, 2024, citing concerns over a provision that grants the Adamawa State Governor authority over federal university land disposal. He emphasized that such matters fall under the federal government’s jurisdiction.

The bill’s sponsor, Senator Binos Yaroe, clarified that the President’s decision was not a full rejection but a correction of clerical errors. He assured that the bill would be amended to reflect the appropriate authority for land matters.

The House of Representatives adjourned its session to Wednesday, February 5, 2025, in honor of the late Deputy Whip, Adewunmi Onanuga.
