President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, who stepped down from his position with immediate effect.
The development was confirmed on Tuesday in a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

President Tinubu expressed appreciation for Nnaji’s service to the nation and wished him success in his future endeavors.
In his resignation letter, Nnaji thanked the President for the opportunity to serve, stating that his decision was influenced by sustained blackmail and political persecution.
His exit follows mounting allegations of certificate forgery after the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), reportedly denied issuing the degree he claimed to hold.
According to the university, Nnaji did not complete his studies and was never awarded a degree, a revelation that stirred calls for his removal from office.
However, Nnaji, through his spokesman, Dr. Robert Ngwu, dismissed the claims, insisting that he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology/Biochemistry with second-class honors in 1985. He also urged UNN to release his academic transcript to substantiate his record.
