The violence erupted when the assailants reportedly stormed a farmland in the agrarian community, killing a farmer who confronted them. Another victim was ambushed and killed while riding his motorcycle. In a tragic turn of events, a boat carrying women and children fleeing the violence capsized, claiming the life of a woman.

Describing the incident as “barbaric and unfortunate,” the National President of the Bandawa community expressed shock over the attack, especially in an area known for harmonious relations between farmers and herders.

The District Head of Bandawa has appealed for a stronger security presence to forestall further bloodshed. While commending the military for its swift intervention, he urged both state and federal governments to provide additional support to ensure lasting peace in the region. Bandawa is known for its large-scale agricultural activities, which attract seasonal farmers from different parts of the country.

Following the incident, the Commander of the 6 Brigade and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke paid a visit to the community, assuring residents that justice would be served. He emphasized the military’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, adding that a thorough investigation was underway to prevent a recurrence.
