Police in Jigawa State have arrested a 45-year-old teacher, Musa Wada, for allegedly killing and mutilating his 14-year-old Almajiri student, Bashir Adamu.

Jigawa Police Command spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu, confirmed that Adamu’s decomposing body was discovered by the roadside on March 12, 2025. Following an investigation, Wada was arrested the next day, March 13, 2025, after detectives acted on a tip-off.

During interrogation, Wada reportedly admitted to punishing Adamu for arriving late to class. However, the boy lost consciousness and died. To cover up the incident, Wada allegedly beheaded Adamu and cut off his genital organs, burying them on his farmland to make it appear as a ritual killing.

Authorities have assured that Wada will be prosecuted after the investigation is concluded. The case has sparked outrage, raising concerns about student safety and abuse in Almajiri schools.
