The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear as conflicting reports have emerged. While some sources claim the attack was carried out by bandits, others allege it resulted from an accidental discharge by a security operative traveling with her.

However, the state police command has attributed the incident to armed robbery.

Spokesperson Usman Abdullahi confirmed, “The attack was caused by an armed robbery incident.”

At the time of filing this report, the Taraba State government had yet to release an official statement, further fueling concerns and criticism over the recurring insecurity in the state.

The tragic death of Atsi Kefas has heightened anxiety among residents, as such attacks continue to occur with alarming frequency in the region.
