President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Sir Honour Sirawoo, has congratulated an accomplished administrator, Alhaji Abba Yola on his appointment as the Chief of Staff to the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare.

Sirawoo described Alhaji Yola’s appointment as a square peg in a square hole owing to his vast experience in sports administration, management and participation.

According to the SWAN President, Yola’s appointment could not have come at a better time, given that the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development under Sunday Dare has been striving for improved performances, and expressed joy that the minister has deliberately chosen to work with active participants in sports activities.

“It is a thing of joy to see the Sports Minister working with technocrats and those who have contributed immensely to sports development in Nigeria, and the appointment of Alhaji Abba Yola is one of such.

“For us in SWAN, we have always advocated for the placement of right people in right places, especially as regards sports administration, promotion and participation. We are indeed excited about the appointment.

“We know what Alhaji Yola is capable of doing, we have worked closely with him in the past and we are sure that the Ministry of Youth and Sports in particular and Nigeria at large will benefit from his rich knowledge of government and public service,” he stressed.

Sir Sirawoo called on Alhaji Abba Yola to bring to bear his wealth of experience in the discharge of his latest responsibility.
