The incident was said to have occurred around 5 a.m. when the suspect gained access through Gate 4 of the Government House and exited through the main gate without being stopped by security personnel, Kano Times reports.

Sources within the Government House confirmed that CCTV footage reviewed after the incident captured the suspect driving the vehicle out of the compound.

The driver of the Hilux, identified as Shafiu Sharp-Sharp, was reportedly questioned and briefly detained as part of the ongoing investigation.

Security agencies have since launched a probe to recover the stolen vehicle and apprehend the suspect.

Efforts to reach the spokesperson of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, for comments were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls or text messages.
