A tragic incident unfolded in Lagos on Friday morning when a suspected drunk driver collided with a group of soldiers jogging outside the Myoung Barracks in the Morocco area of Shomolu.
The accident resulted in the deaths of four soldiers, with several others injured.

According to eyewitness accounts, the driver’s Toyota vehicle was speeding when it crashed into the soldiers. Three young men were reportedly in the vehicle at the time. After the collision, the occupants of the vehicle attempted to flee the scene but were quickly apprehended by the soldiers. The soldiers then beat them, and their vehicle was damaged in the process. One of the young men was reportedly stabbed.
The soldiers were on their monthly morning road walk when the accident occurred. “Four soldiers were killed, and many others were seriously injured,” a local resident said, describing the devastating scene.
At the time of reporting, there had been no official statement from the Army Public Relations or the Lagos State Police Command. Both Deputy Director of Army Public Relations Olabisi Ayeni and police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin have not responded to requests for comments.
