The NSCDC spokesman in Jigawa, ASC Badaruddeen Tijjani, confirmed the incident on Saturday in Dutse. He said the deceased, a 45-year-old resident of Shuwarin Town, was arrested on August 7 following credible evidence linking him to the murder of Superintendent Bashir Adamu-Jibril.
The late officer was attacked by suspected hoodlums at Shuwarin market in Kiyawa Local Government Area while on official duty, an assault that claimed his life.
Tijjani explained that while the suspect was being driven at high speed to the NSCDC command headquarters, he managed to remove his handcuffs and jumped from the vehicle in an attempt to escape.
He sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Dutse General Hospital, where a doctor confirmed him dead.
