Supporters of Senator Sulaiman Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila have thrown their weight behind his recent political alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a step in the right direction for Kano South.

At a solidarity gathering held in Sumaila town, Dr. Umar Ahmad Aliyu, a scholar and loyalist under the Kawu Sumaila Foundation, commended the senator’s leadership and political foresight. He described Kawu Sumaila as a key figure in Kano South’s political landscape, saying his return to the APC has boosted the party’s strength in the region.

Dr. Aliyu emphasized that Senator Kawu’s support is instrumental to the success of any political movement in Kano South. He added that the senator, who was among the founding members of the APC, had only briefly left the party for the NNPP in 2023 before returning to further strengthen the ruling party’s grip on the region.

The event also served as an opportunity for attendees to applaud President Tinubu’s infrastructural efforts in the area. They cited the establishment of a special education centre in Karaye, paramedical centres in Rano, and federal interventions such as N124 billion for the Wudil-Gaya road rehabilitation and N95 billion for the upgrade of three major dams in Kano South.

Comrade Umar Ali, who serves as Special Assistant on Student Affairs to Senator Kawu, said the senator’s decision to align with the APC resonates with the aspirations of youths and constituents in the zone. He noted that young people are already mobilizing across communities, schools, and local councils in anticipation of the 2027 elections.
