The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has stated that the primary focus of the House for the coming legislative year is the passage of the Appropriation Bill and the Tax Reform Bills.

“The legislative agenda of the House for 2025 prioritizes the passage of the Appropriation Bill and the Tax Reform Bills, both of which are pivotal to economic recovery and fiscal stability,” Kalu remarked on behalf of Abbas.

He further highlighted the significance of the reforms, stating, “These reforms are essential for broadening the tax base, improving compliance, and reducing dependency on external borrowing.”

Kalu assured that the House would ensure the reforms are fair and mindful of the needs of all Nigerians, especially the most vulnerable.

Abbas Tajudeen added that as lawmakers deliberate on the budget and other key legislative issues, they must exercise thorough scrutiny to ensure that every proposal aligns with the nation’s objectives and benefits the citizens.

He expressed confidence that the planned Citizens’ Town Hall on the budget would foster greater transparency and inclusivity in the House’s decision-making process.
