A tragic incident has unfolded in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, where a newly recruited soldier identified as Dauda Dedan allegedly stabbed a police officer, Constable Aaron John, to death.

The unfortunate event, which occurred on Monday around 9 p.m. in the Mayo-Goyi area of the city, was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Taraba State Police Command, James Lashen, during a media briefing on Wednesday.
According to the police, Constable John had responded to a distress call from residents concerning a disturbance reportedly caused by the soldier. Upon arriving at the scene, the situation quickly turned violent, resulting in the officer being fatally stabbed.
Following the incident, the suspect fled the scene. However, the military has launched an investigation and assured the police that efforts are underway to locate and apprehend Dedan. Both security agencies have pledged to work together to ensure justice is served.
