The Sokoto State Government has banned all forms of signing-out celebrations by graduating secondary school students across the state, citing growing concerns over misconduct and disruption of public order.

The announcement was made on Thursday by the state’s Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Professor Ahmad Ladan Ala, who said the trend has strayed from its original celebratory purpose and has become a source of indiscipline and vandalism.
He explained that the signing-out tradition has now taken a different turn, posing serious concerns to the values of discipline and academic integrity which the state’s education system upholds.
In a directive issued to school authorities, the government instructed all principals to stop students from organizing or participating in any form of signing-out activities, whether within or outside school grounds.
The ministry also urged parents and guardians to support the ban by discouraging their children from engaging in behaviours that undermine discipline and responsible conduct.
