The court heard that the incident occurred in the Dabai area of Gwale Local Government Area, where Dandinshe allegedly trespassed into a compound and stole the animal belonging to a member of the community.

During the court session, the prosecution said the defendant violated provisions of the Kano State Sharia Penal Code by committing criminal trespass and theft. Dandinshe pleaded guilty to the charges.

The presiding judge then sentenced him to six months imprisonment or an option of N15,000 fine and 30 strokes of cane for criminal trespass. He was also given another six-month jail term or N15,000 fine with an additional 30 strokes for theft.

The flogging was carried out within the court premises, bringing the total punishment to 12 months imprisonment and 60 strokes of cane.
