The  Action Democratic Party, (ADP) gubernatorial candidate in Kano, Shaaban Sharada, has called on security agencies to arrest the state APC chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Abbas, over alleged inciting comments.

Mr Sharada, who is a member representing Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, described the statement by the state APC chairman “as a call to violence and voter intimidation as the country prepares for general election.”

Recall that Daily Nigerian reports that Mr Abbas had vowed that the party would retain power in the state by hook or by crook on Wednesday at the flag-off of the party’s campaign in Gaya Local Government Area of the state.

The ADP governorship candidate as reported by Daily Nigeria said, at a time when Kano people are ready to kick out the “unpopular APC Government from Kano Government House, the state party chairman known for his character of hate speech and instigation of violence has already started intimidating the electorate.”

The candidate said, “in a situation where the Independent National Electoral Commission released its guidelines for the peaceful conduct of 2023 general elections, Abbas’s statement is an insult and slap on the face of Kano people, INEC and law abiding citizens.

“The hate speech by Abdullahi Abbas contravenes Section 92 to 96 of the 2022 Electoral Act, which prohibits threat or use of force against voters,” the statement reads.

Mr Sharada further urged security agencies to enforce the sections of the Electoral Act violated by Mr Abbas.
