The Director-General of Senator Shehu Sani campaign team, Mr Monday  Onyeabor Jaji has debunked the rumour that Senator Shehu Sani defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

According to a statement issued on Friday by  Chief Monday Onyeabor Jaji and made available to Newsmen, clarified why Santor Sani hosted his friends and well-wishers, noting that he invited them to discuss his political positions but is yet to defect to the PDP.

Mr Monday Jaji explained that ‘Senator Sani met with his friends and well-wishers to seek their advice on his political future.  So the issue of defecting to PDP did not arise”.

“You can not do politics in the hotel. If it’s decamping, it could be in the party office. It must be done in the party office and I am the one to officially announce it but nothing of that issue now’.

He added that the defection rumour was a mere wish of PDP members to have the calibre of a person like Senator Sani as their member.

Recall that  Sani was elected a senator on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), and lost the election to the senate in 2019 following unresolved issues with serving Governor Nasir el-Rufai.
