Daily News 24 reports that Senator Kawu confirmed the move through his Facebook account on Wednesday, affirming that the reports surrounding his political move were accurate.
Sumaila emphasized his focus on his constituents, stating, “All politics is local, and my primary concern has always been, and remains, the welfare of my immediate constituency. I am resolutely determined to advance the lives of my people, ensuring their needs are met and their future is secured.”
The defection follows a crucial meeting between Sumaila and APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
This move comes after strong calls from leaders across Kano South, including 16 local government chairmen, urging Sumaila to return to the party. These leaders highlighted Sumaila’s influence and grassroots support, stressing that his return would significantly enhance the APC’s prospects in the upcoming elections and strengthen the party’s position in the region.
