The Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, expressed confidence on Wednesday that Kano State will be reclaimed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming election cycle.

Jibrin made this assertion while advocating for the ministerial nomination of Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, President Bola Tinubu’s pick for the position of Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development.

Ata appeared before the Senate Committee of the Whole for screening ahead of his potential confirmation.

Highlighting Ata’s political influence, Senator Jibrin, who represents Kano North, said, “Mr. Chairman, I don’t have much to say, but I want you all to know that this man is a political juggernaut. He’s well-experienced and well-loved.” He added that once Ata is confirmed, “Kano will be taken over by the APC.”

Kano State, the most populous in northern Nigeria with over 15 million residents, is currently led by the opposition New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

Ata, nominated by President Tinubu last week, awaits confirmation by the Senate to assume his role in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
