The Libyan Attorney General’s Office confirmed the discovery, stating that the facility was used to detain dozens of migrants, and 76 individuals were rescued by security forces.

Investigations suggest that a gang was responsible for detaining the migrants, subjecting them to torture, and inhumane treatment.

The Libyan Attorney General’s Office reported that the gang deliberately deprived migrants of their freedom, tortured them, and subjected them to cruel and inhumane treatment.

Kufra, located near the Egyptian and Sudanese borders, has long been a hotspot for human trafficking due to Libya’s ongoing instability following years of civil war.

Armed groups, some linked to state agencies, have exploited migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers, perpetuating severe human rights abuses, including unlawful killings, forced labor, and trafficking for sexual exploitation.
