Sanusi Sa’id Kiru, Director of Training and Programmes at the Progressive Institute and former Commissioner for Education in Kano State, has faulted Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s response to the alleged diversion of N6.5 billion involving the Protocol Directorate of the Government House.

Kiru, in a statement issued in Kano, cautioned the governor against making public remarks on the matter, stressing that the case is already before the courts and should be allowed to run its full course. He maintained that respect for judicial processes would demonstrate a stronger commitment to transparency and accountability.
According to him, dismissing the allegations outright amounts to undermining the rule of law. “By allowing the courts to determine the matter, the administration would be reinforcing respect for governing institutions and building public trust,” Kiru stated.
He further described the government’s quick denial of the allegations as a “desperate attempt to save face,” warning that such a move could fuel suspicion among citizens. Kiru questioned how the government could issue blanket denials despite the existence of evidence, insisting that only the judiciary is in a position to resolve the controversy.
