The Rumfa College Old Boys Association (RUMFOBA) Class ’94 celebrated its 30th anniversary in Kano on Thursday, urging the Kano State Government to establish database centres in every community across the state.
The proposed centres, to be managed by village heads, aim to gather essential data on households to enhance decision-making, planning, and project execution.

Chairman of RUMFOBA Class ’94, Engineer Professor Ibrahim Sani Madugu, emphasized the role of these centres in improving security, fostering community development, and promoting small-scale industries and trades.
As part of their contributions to their alma mater, the Class ’94 chapter implemented two major projects: ensuring access to water in key areas and installing a CCTV surveillance system.
Following consultations with the school principal, additional initiatives were identified, including:
a. Solar-based security lights for critical areas like the NCC computer centre and laboratories.
b. Carpets for school mosques.
c. Replacement of dead solar batteries.
d. Payment of owed allowances for security personnel.
Engineer Madugu also highlighted the need for the state government to adopt renewable energy solutions, such as solar power, to address persistent electricity issues.
He praised the government’s establishment of the Kano Hydro Electricity Development Company (KHEDCO) and power stations at Tiga and Karaye dams.
Madugu, who leads a research team on Solar Radiation Modification (SRM) at Kampala International University, stressed the importance of addressing climate change and exploring innovative solutions.
During the event, three individuals were honored for their contributions to education and support for Rumfa College: former Governor Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar-mata, and another distinguished recipient.
Speaking at the event, Kano State Commissioner for Science, Technology, and Innovation, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar-mata, commended RUMFOBA for its dedication to education. He advised the group to focus on executing one major project annually while communicating other needs to the state government for intervention.
