A group of residents from Fagge in Kano has taken legal steps to obtain an arrest warrant against Abdullahi Abbas, the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing him of actions they believe endanger public order.

The request was filed ex parte by ten community members representing what they described as other concerned and peace-oriented residents. In their application, they urged the magistrates’ court to direct the Commissioner of Police to arrest and probe Abbas for alleged breaches of several sections of the Kano State Penal Code.
The residents listed suspected offences including intentional insult capable of provoking unrest, incitement of class hostility, defamation, and behaviour said to disturb community peace. These allegations were tied to Sections 399, 417, 391–393, 114 and 100 of the Penal Code.
In a statement filed alongside the motion, the applicants said the matter was brought before the court to protect the reputation of Fagge community members. They insisted that remarks allegedly made by Abbas had created worry among locals and could heighten tension if not addressed.
They noted that the community could not ignore conduct they believe has the potential to stir division or threaten harmony, stressing that their action was aimed at preventing escalation.
The petitioners also proposed an alternative request: if the court chooses not to issue an arrest warrant, it should instead compel Abbas to appear by issuing a criminal summons.
The application, dated 10 November 2025, was prepared by a legal team led by A.A. Hikima, with H.S. Bello, E.O. Ekaun, Ridwan Yunusa, Z.A. Sabuwa, Aliyu Kabiru, Suleiman Naima, N.A. Abdulmumeen and Khadija Abba serving as co-counsel.
The court is expected to hear the motion during its upcoming session.
