Atiku Abubakar, former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has insisted that Nigerians deserve full disclosure about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s background, particularly regarding his academic records and alleged involvement in drug trafficking.

In a post shared by his media aide, Paul Ibe, on X, Atiku stressed that the country needs leaders with clean and transparent histories. “Just about time, the records of Tinubu, including his forfeiture of funds for alleged drugs trafficking and certificate at Chicago State University, are made public. The Black nation’s most populous country does not deserve a leader with a tainted past. Whatever is being hidden inside must be unveiled. Nigerians and the rest of the world deserve to know. There must be full disclosure,” the post read.

The call comes after a U.S. District Court ordered the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to release documents related to Tinubu. The ruling followed a motion filed by American researcher Aaron Greenspan, who accused the FBI of withholding information in violation of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The documents reportedly concern allegations of narcotics trafficking linked to the president.

Reacting to the development, Tinubu’s media adviser, Bayo Onanuga, downplayed the significance of the ruling, stating that the documents have been available for over 30 years and contain no new revelations. “There is nothing new to reveal. We are studying the court’s decision,” he said.
