In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, the biology professor shared how he sells vegetables at a weekly market in Batsari, Katsina State, as part of his passion for entrepreneurship.

Drawing from his farming background and early experience in the produce business, Professor Hassan-Wagini has continued to encourage students and young graduates to take up small-scale ventures rather than waiting for white-collar jobs.

He believes that contributing to society is what truly matters, regardless of the size of a business, and urges NCE, diploma, and degree holders to overcome their fear of starting small. He also emphasizes the importance of combining formal education with practical skills, describing it as key to achieving a successful and self-reliant life.

The professor’s story gained public attention shortly after his recent promotion to the rank of professor, drawing admiration for his humility and strong work ethic.

According to Malam Uzairu, a fellow trader and neighbor in the market, Professor Hassan-Wagini is widely respected for his modesty and genuine connection with people. Uzairu described him as a trustworthy and down-to-earth individual who interacts freely with everyone, regardless of status.
