The Nigerian Presidency has dismissed reports claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will meet with United States Vice President J.D. Vance at the White House on Tuesday.

Temitope Ajayi, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, described the report as “false and misleading” in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday.
Ajayi clarified that any official engagement involving President Tinubu and the White House would be with the U.S. President, not the Vice President, urging the public to disregard the misinformation circulating online.
The clarification comes amid diplomatic tensions following former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent allegations of Christian persecution in Nigeria. Trump had accused the Nigerian government of ignoring attacks against Christians and consequently labeled the country as one of particular concern—a claim the Nigerian government has firmly rejected.
