The tragic incident occurred on Saturday evening. According to residents, the woman’s husband returned home at about 8:00 p.m. and discovered that the house had been locked from the outside. After forcing the door open, he found the lifeless bodies of his wife and child inside the room.
A community leader in the area, Ahmad Sani, confirmed the incident and described it as horrifying. He blamed the development on the poor security situation in the neighbourhood, noting that residents had jointly built a police outpost to enhance safety, but no officers had been deployed to man the facility.
Sani appealed to the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, to urgently deploy security personnel to the area to prevent a repeat of such an incident.
The spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command, CSP Abdullahi Haruna, also confirmed the killings, saying the police have commenced a full investigation to track down and arrest those responsible for the crime.
