The committee brought together a faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) opposed to the state leadership, alongside members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Labour Party (LP), and African Democratic Congress (ADC). Eyewitnesses said the assailants, armed with cutlasses, clubs, and stones, injured several attendees and destroyed vehicles, while some accused the police at the scene of failing to intervene.
Former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, condemned the attack, stressing that political violence must be curtailed. ADC National Vice Chairman (North-West), Jafaru Sani, described the incident as “sad and unfortunate” and assured that the party would not be intimidated.
The Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer confirmed that the command would release an official statement on the incident. The Kaduna State APC Secretary denied any involvement by the ruling party, emphasizing that APC does not support political thuggery.
