Senate President Godswill Akpabio has predicted that political parties will lose relevance in Akwa Ibom State by 2027 due to growing unity among stakeholders in the state.
Speaking at his midterm empowerment briefing in Ikot Ekpene, Akpabio said the current strength and solidarity among leaders, including Governor Umo Eno, have rendered party lines less significant.

He claimed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is currently in disarray, describing its symbol – the umbrella – as being in “shreds,” and unable to shield its members.
He credited the prevailing harmony in the state to Governor Umo Eno, whom he described as a peaceful and unifying leader. According to Akpabio, all political groups have aligned themselves with the vision of President Bola Tinubu, Governor Eno, and himself, a move he believes will shape the future of politics in the state.
“Our people have come together as one. By 2027, parties will no longer matter in Akwa Ibom. We are building a united front,” Akpabio said.
During the event, the Senate President empowered 1,690 constituents with items such as mini buses, tricycles, cassava processing machines, and cash grants to boost economic activity and promote sustainable development in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
His remarks have stirred political discourse in the state, with observers watching closely how the evolving alliances may reshape Akwa Ibom’s political dynamics ahead of the next general election.
