Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has called on Kano residents to remain vigilant and prioritize peace as preparations for the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations intensify.

Daily News 24 reports that Bakori made the appeal on Tuesday during a meeting with the Kano State Coalition of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), led by Dr. Musa Sufi, and the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), led by its state chairman, Amb. Comrade Ali Hassan Tudun Bayero.
The visiting groups expressed concerns over potential security challenges, particularly regarding the Durbar festivities, where fears of violent clashes have been raised. They urged the police to take proactive measures to prevent any disruptions to public order.
In response, CP Bakori assured that the command is aware of plans by certain groups to hold parallel celebrations, which could heighten tensions. He noted that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, are implementing strategies to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
“As part of our commitment to public safety, we are working closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure a secure environment during the celebrations,” Bakori stated.
He urged residents to remain watchful and report any suspicious activities to the police.
The police command also called on community, religious, and opinion leaders to play a role in promoting peace and harmony.
“As we mark this festive occasion, let us remember that unity and peace should be our priority,” the statement concluded.
