Police spokesperson SP Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the development in a statement on Wednesday, saying the case was reported on August 11, 2025, by Mainstream Energy Solutions Ltd, operators of the plant.
According to him, initial arrests of two supervisors, Shaibu Abu Sufyan and Ibrahim Musa, led detectives to uncover the involvement of 10 other security staff. The suspects allegedly stole navigation lock metals and beams valued at billions of naira and sold them to companies across Lagos, Kwara, and Osun States.
Investigations also revealed suspicious bank transactions, with N12.5 million traced to Abu Sufyan and N11.5 million to Musa.
Abiodun said efforts are underway to track down the dealers and other accomplices in the network. The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
