The Kano State Police Command has rescued a man from an angry crowd after an alleged blasphemy incident at a hotel in the Badawa area of Kano metropolis.

The incident was disclosed by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Monday via his X (formerly Twitter) account. He said the incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. on December 21 at Sarina Hotel, located in Badawa Quarters.
According to information shared by the analyst, a distress call was received indicating that three men identified as Musa Tasiu, Awwal Ibrahim and Soja Snu, all from Dorayi Quarters had visited the hotel to smoke shisha.
One of the men, Musa Tasiu, was alleged to have entered the hotel’s mosque, damaged the glass door, picked up a copy of the Holy Qur’an and tore it.
Following the action, people within the hotel premises reportedly mobilised in large numbers, with the suspect facing the risk of being lynched.
A patrol team attached to the division was said to have responded swiftly to the distress call, rescued the suspect from the mob and restored calm in the area.
The situation has since been brought under control, while investigation into the incident is ongoing.
