According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the arrest followed a well-coordinated intelligence-led operation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.

Acting on credible information, operatives from the Anti-kidnapping Squad raided a hideout in Bagau town on May 9, 2025. During the operation, a 23-year-old man identified as Musa Tukur from Kudan LGA, Kaduna State, was arrested while guarding the abducted victim.

The elderly victim, who hails from Maigana in Soba LGA of Kaduna State, was found blindfolded with parts of his body tied. Police said the suspect confessed to participating in the kidnapping, which occurred on May 3, and revealed that the gang had demanded a ransom of N20 million.

Yunusa was taken to a hospital for treatment and has since been reunited with his family.

Following news of his rescue, residents of Soba Local Government trooped to the Bompai Police Headquarters in Kano to express their gratitude to the Police Commissioner and his team for their swift action.

Commending the operatives, CP Bakori praised their professionalism and reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in the state. He also urged the public to continue providing useful information that could help curb criminal activities.
