The Nigeria Police Force, Kano State Command, has rescued 10 victims of human trafficking and handed them over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Kano Zonal Command.

The victims were rescued on December 7 at about 2:40 p.m. from a house located at Rijiyar Lemu Quarters in Kano by a police team led by CSP Bala Shuaibu.

The Zonal Commander of NAPTIP, Mr Abdullahi Babale, disclosed this while receiving the victims at the agency’s office on Thursday. He revealed that the victims, aged between 22 and 42, included six females and four males.

“They were on their way to Libya for labour exploitation,” Babale said, adding, “the rescued victims are from Delta, Edo, Osun, Ogun, and Lagos states.”

The Zonal Commander commended the Commissioner of Police, Mr Salman Dogo-Garba, for his cooperation in the rescue operation. He assured that the victims would undergo counselling and rehabilitation before being reunited with their families.

Babale also urged parents to safeguard their children from being lured into exploitation under false promises of greener pastures.

In his remarks, Commissioner Dogo-Garba called on the public to report any suspicious activities related to human trafficking for prompt action.
