The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a Kuje Prison escapee trying to relocate to Bama, his native home in Borno State.

The 23-year-old inmate, Abubakar Mohammed, is facing terrorism charges.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner of Police, Sikiru Akande, who said the escapee was arrested along the Adamawa/Borno border.

Akande also said that the command had recovered weapons, and arrested 12 suspected kidnappers and armed robbers in the state.

In another development, the police in Benue State on Thursday said operatives arrested one Ebube Igwe Jude, who escaped from Kuje Custodial Centre following the recent jail-break.

The spokesperson for the command, SP Catherine Anene, in a statement noted that detectives deployed to investigate the case arrested him (fugitive) along George Akume Way, Wurukum in Makurdi.

“On 19/7/2022, at about 3pm, information was received about one Ebube Igwe Jude, a fugitive who had arrived in Makurdi as a result of Kuje jail break.

“During investigation, he confessed to have escaped from Kuje correctional centre during the jail break. He stated further that he is an awaiting trial inmate, standing trial in a case of Culpable Homicide involving his girlfriend,” Anene stated.

Anene added that the command had begun processes to hand over the escapee to the Nigeria Correctional Service for necessary actions.
