The Kaduna State Police Command has summoned former Governor Nasir El-Rufai and seven members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for questioning in connection with a violent clash that broke out during a coalition meeting between the ADC and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) last week.

The development was confirmed in a police letter dated September 4, 2025, and signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Uzainu Abdullahi. The letter directed the ADC state chairman to present El-Rufai and the other party members at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on September 8.
According to the invitation, the individuals are to respond to allegations of criminal conspiracy, incitement of public disturbance, mischief, and causing grievous harm. Those listed alongside El-Rufai include Bashir Sa’idu, Jafaru Sani, Ubaidullah Mohammed (popularly called “30”), Nasiru Maikano, Aminu Abita, and Ahmed Rufa’i Hussaini (known as “Mikiya”).
Meanwhile, tension heightened on Wednesday as security operatives sealed off the Kaduna State ADC office. The action came just hours before the Northwest leadership of the party was expected to visit the state chapter to console members injured in the recent attack.
Eyewitnesses said several police patrol vans were stationed around the premises, preventing access to the building. The sealing of the opposition party’s office has further stirred concerns among members, who viewed the timing as a move to frustrate the planned visit.
The police have not issued a public statement beyond the invitation letter, but the investigation is expected to shed light on the events that led to the violent confrontation at the coalition meeting.
