The Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, in a statement on Saturday, said the arrest followed credible intelligence received on September 20, 2025, about a vehicle loaded with cartons of illicit drugs.

According to him, officers trailed the vehicle to a house in the area, cordoned off the premises, and arrested a 19-year-old resident, Usman Umar.

A search of the property led to the recovery of 603 packets of suspected Tramadol tablets containing 60,300 pieces, valued at N60.3 million, and 299 packets of suspected Pregabalin capsules consisting of 44,850 pieces, worth N22.4 million. The total seizure was estimated at N82.7 million.

Police Commissioner Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, who led the operation, commended the cooperation of residents, saying their timely information was crucial to the breakthrough.

He assured that the suspect is assisting with investigations to track down other members of the syndicate behind the illegal trade.

The Command called on the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies, stressing that community collaboration remains vital in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse in Kano State.
