The Kano State Police Command has assured residents that worship centers across the state will be well-protected during the 2025 Christmas and New Year celebrations.
According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on Monday, 22nd December 2025, Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, met with operational commanders, including Heads of Departments, Area, Squadron, Tactical Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers, to finalize strategies aimed at safeguarding worship centers and other public spaces throughout the festive period.

Following directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Kano Command has intensified patrols, increased visibility policing, and implemented intelligence-led operations to maintain peace and prevent crime before, during, and after the holidays. Confidence-building engagements with the public will also be carried out to strengthen community cooperation.
CP Bakori instructed operational commanders to ensure round-the-clock security at worship centers, recreational facilities, and major public areas, while also managing traffic for smooth movement across the state. He further emphasized expanding intelligence-gathering efforts to preempt potential threats during the festive season.
The police have also issued safety guidelines for residents, urging them to avoid carrying suspicious objects, report unusual activities, adhere to safe driving practices, avoid unauthorized horse riding, accompany children when going out, and refrain from using fireworks. Citizens were reminded to celebrate peacefully to prevent breaches of law and order.
The Commissioner of Police expressed gratitude to Kano residents for their support and cooperation and encouraged everyone to report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station or via emergency numbers.
