Spokesman of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, in a statement on Saturday, said the suspects, 25-year-old Umar Aliyu and 27-year-old Sabiu Kabiru, both from Gunduwawa village in Gezawa Local Government Area were arrested on August 7, 2025, following intelligence reports.

According to the police, operatives of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) intercepted the suspects around 3:00pm, leading to the recovery of 23 mobile phones, three POS machines, 17 Opay debit cards, three MP3 players, eight mobile phone batteries, and one power bank.

During interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to breaking into a business center in Dinyar Madiga, Takai Local Government Area. However, police investigations later revealed contradictions in their claims, raising further questions about the actual location of the burglary.

The command has directed that the recovered items be displayed at the Bompai Police Headquarters in Kano for identification by their rightful owners. Members of the public with information regarding the items have been urged to contact the Police Public Relations Officer’s office or reach the Investigating Police Officer via the number provided by the command.

Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the operatives for their professionalism, assuring residents that the police remain committed to safeguarding lives and property.
