The incident reportedly occurred around 4:30 p.m. while the cattle were grazing and allegedly consumed poisoned garden eggs scattered in the area.

Confirming the incident, Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Bassa, Ya’u Idris, said the case has been reported to relevant security agencies including the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), and the police.

According to him, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army visited the scene and promised a thorough investigation, while also calling for calm among Fulani residents.

The development comes just two days after an attack in Zikke village, also in Bassa, where 52 people were killed and several others injured, raising tensions in the area.

In response to the growing insecurity, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has imposed restrictions including a ban on night grazing, cattle movement, and motorcycle operations beyond 7 p.m. across affected areas.
