Ruth Otabor, the younger sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Phyna, has died weeks after being struck by a Dangote truck in Auchi, Edo State.

She passed away in the early hours of August 31, 2025, at about 6:30 a.m., according to a statement released by Eko Solicitors & Advocates on behalf of the family.
Ruth’s death followed the August 13 accident near Auchi Polytechnic, which left her with one leg amputated and doctors warning that her other leg might also be at risk.
Dangote Group had earlier pledged full medical care and compensation, with senior officials and its insurance team visiting the hospital and the family after the incident.
The family, while mourning her loss, has appealed for privacy as they grieve, noting that details of the funeral will be shared later.
The motorcycle rider carrying Ruth at the time of the crash is still reported to be in critical condition.
