The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed the screening of aspirants vying for positions ahead of its 2025 Elective National Convention.
The exercise, which was earlier scheduled for October 28, 2025, has been put on hold due to unforeseen circumstances, according to a statement released on Monday by the Chairman of the National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC) and Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri.

Governor Fintiri explained that a new date for the screening will be communicated soon, adding that the committee regrets any inconvenience the postponement may cause.
The screening, to be chaired by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Eyitayo Jegede, is part of preparations for the party’s convention slated to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State, from November 15 to 16, 2025.
The decision to reschedule the screening comes amid internal disagreements within the party following the declaration of former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, to contest for the position of national chairman.
Lamido’s entry into the race has reportedly divided party stakeholders, particularly in the North, where some leaders had earlier endorsed former Minister Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, for the same position.
Some factions loyal to Lamido and former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, are said to have rejected Turaki’s endorsement, describing it as the result of inadequate consultation.
