The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Vice presidential candidate, Ifeanyichukwu Okowa has described the same faith ticket as a wrong pathway for Nigeria while calling on Church leaders not to be reactive in thinking out solution as they preach to their followers.
Okowa made the statement recently at a meeting with religious leaders that took place at the Catholic Centre in Kaduna.
Also speaking on his presidential candidate Atiku, he described him as a pan Nigerian who listens to all without discrimination and is ready to make Nigeria work again.
“For all faiths working together to develop this country is to have a man who believes that every man can practice his faith but we can work together to truly develop this nation.
“Anybody who is trying to take on the pathway of faith, be it the Muslim or the Christian ticket, I don’t think that is the right path for Nigeria.
“A pan Nigerian approach and realising the fact that we are in a nation where people are allowed to practice their faith, we need a Nigeria where each and everyone can practice his faith in the nation.
“My presidential candidate believes in that path.
“I know that he is the only candidate on the ticket today that believes that in an inclusive Nigeria we can all work for the development of this nation” Okowa stated.
He therefore reaffirmed to the men of God that the Atiku team recognizes Nigeria as multiethnic and multi religious but can be one Nigeria truly working together towards development and progress to make things work for the people.
“After all poverty does not know where you are from. When you’re hungry and you find food, it will not matter where it is coming from as far as you are able to eat at that point in time.
“If we are able to truly give a meaning to Nigeria we must collectively realise that we need to pull together as Christians and Muslims, we need to pull together whether you are from the the northwest or the southwest or the southeast, we need to think together in order to develop our nation” Okowa said.
He called on the religious leaders to give a deep thought about Nigeria today in helping to guide others to the pathway to solution.
