The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Tuesday swore in 1,343 corps members for the 2022 Batch “B”, Stream I Orientation Course in Abia.
The State Coordinator, Mr Julius Ekeh, said this at the swearing-in of the corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp at Umunna, Bende Local Government Area.
Ekeh said that the corps members, which cut across the six geopolitical zones of the country, comprised 615 males and 728 females.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Chief Judge of Abia, Justice Onuoha Ogwe, represented by Justice Uchenna Enwereji, administered the oath of allegiance on the corps members.
The NYSC Director-General, Brig.-Gen. Muhammad Fadah, urged them to abide by the oath of allegiance they had taken.
According to him, the oath is expected to guide their conduct during the service year and beyond.
Fadah, whose address was read by Ekeh, said that one of the objectives of the scheme is to promote national unity and integration.
He, therefore, urged them to avoid using social media to spread fake news, fuel hatred and other negative purposes.
He urged them to rather deploy the new media to promote national unity and development.
The NYSC boss further charged them to avail themselves of opportunities offered by the scheme’s Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development to develop themselves.
Fadah assured them of the management’s determination to work with relevant stakeholders for the success of the programme.
“May I appeal for the support of all stakeholders toward the establishment of the NYSC Trust Fund, which has reached an advanced stage of legislation.
He said, “This will enhance the smooth operations of the scheme, especially in addressing the challenges of infrastructure and providing start-up capital for corps members.” (NAN)
