Team Kano Boys rugby team on  Monday  secured the qualification ticket to compete in the 2023 edition of the National Youths Games, NYG.

The Kano rugby lads beat arch rivals, Team Kaduna, 14-7 to book their spot.

Kano has secured a place in the next NYG schedule to take place in September in Asaba, Delta State.

The head coach of Kano’s team, Umar Bau, described their qualification as significant.

He said they were rejoicing that they would be travelling to Delta with Team Kano Boys and Girls.

He said the results obtained in Kaduna were the output of the combined efforts of the players, technical crew and backroom staff.

Bau reassured that the team would continue to  work hard to attain the required capacity to confront the task ahead at the NYG stage in September.

Team Kano Rugby Girls had  earlier also picked the sole  ticket to compete at the NYG.
