The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has maintained that its nationwide strike is still ongoing, dismissing a statement by the Minister of Health, Professor Ali Pate, that it had been suspended.

The minister had announced the strike’s suspension after a meeting with union leaders in Abuja, claiming that an agreement had been reached to end it. However, NANNM’s president, Morakinyo Rilwan, refuted that claim, stating that no such agreement has been made.
The union emphasized that the strike, which began on Wednesday, was declared in response to persistent issues including salary irregularities, staff shortages, unpaid allowances, and poor working conditions.
NANNM further stated that the industrial action would continue until those demands are satisfactorily addressed.
