The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Sokoto State command, has arrested seven persons for alleged raping of minors and circulation of fake currency notes in the State.
The NSCDC Commandant, Mr Muhammad Dada, disclosed this while addressing newsmen on Tuesday in Sokoto.
Dada said 22-year-old Sama’ila Haruna and Armaya’u Bello, 30, were accused of allegedly raping a year-old and 4-year-old minors respectively, in Sokoto metropolis.

He said the victims sustained injuries that led to different types of surgeries, and that they as still on treatment.
The Commandant said suspects arrested in connection with the circulation of fake currency notes are Kassim Jailani, Yusuf Amin, Sanusi Shamsu and Isiyaku Umar.
He said the fake currency notes are Niger Republic currency, and Naira notes worth N7 million.
According to him, arrests were made by officers from Sokoto North Local Government Area.
He added that an informant to bandits, Danjuma Siddi, was also arrested in Tureta Local Government Area (LGA).
He said Siddi was accused of engaging in several banditry activities in Bimasa and Tsamiya villages, in Tureta LGA.
He noted that all the suspects were arrested in March this year.
Dada accused informants of sustaining banditry in the state, and that if not for informants, banditry would have been history.
“Informants monitor the movement of security personnel and alert bandits whenever an operation is due to take place.
“I appeal to the general public to assist the security agencies with any information that can aid in fishing out the criminals and their informants in the communities.
“Any information is vital to us, no matter how small it is. Such information can be analysed by security agents, in order to get something that will assist in addressing banditry,’’ Dada said. (NAN)
