The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested five individuals suspected of vandalizing public properties across the state.

Daily News 24 reports that this information is contained in a statement issued by the NSCDC, Kano State Command, and signed by SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the State Commandant, Shafi’u Abdulmumini.

According to the statement, four of the suspects-Abdulbasi Usman (19), Yahaya Isa (20), Abubakar Sadiq Abdullahi (20), residents of Unguwar Rimi, Kumbotso Local Government Area (LGA), and Adamu Murtala (20) from Unguwa Uku, Tarauni LGA-were arrested for allegedly vandalizing and stealing from Government Secondary School (GSS) Unguwar Rimi and GSS Unguwa Uku.

Stolen items included roofing sheets, iron rods, iron buckets, 20 three-seater cushion chairs, mats, windows, ceiling fans, and important documents and teaching materials. Efforts are underway to recover the stolen items, including those sold to a receiver who is also under investigation.

In a separate case, 17-year-old Alasan Inusa from Gidan Tela, PRP, Dambatta LGA, was apprehended for stealing electrical pole equipment in Dambatta. Items recovered from him included six insulators, a 3-meter aluminum cable, and various nuts and brass.

The NSCDC has completed its investigation and will soon charge the suspects in court.
