The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State has apprehended nine suspects in connection with separate cases of vandalism and theft across the state.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, five individuals were arrested for allegedly vandalising and stealing ten metal manhole covers belonging to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.
The arrested suspects include Abubakar Umar (20), Sadiq Jafar (23), Iliya Nasir (20), Abba Muhammad (18), and Al-ameen Idris (18). Two other suspects, identified as Shamsu Ibrahim Usman (35) and Yusuf Abdulmumini (25), were also arrested for allegedly receiving the stolen items. They hail from Daiba Rijiyar Lemo and Kurna Babban Layi areas of Kano respectively.
Items recovered during the investigation include the ten stolen manhole covers and a Mercedes Benz vehicle reportedly used in the operation.
In a separate incident, NSCDC operatives arrested two suspected thieves at the Kanawa Economic City, Dangwauro, in Kumbotso Local Government Area. The suspects – Haruna Musa (39) of Hotoro Kwanar Sabo in Nassarawa LGA, and Sadiq Suleiman (27) of Rijiyar Lemo in Ungoggo LGA – were caught after allegedly stealing four large solar panels from the market complex.
According to the Corps, all nine suspects will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
