The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano has arrested a 32-year-old man, Mu’azu Mohammed Ibrahim, who is accused of defrauding people under the guise of offering them employment in Kano State government ministries.

The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, on behalf of the State Commandant.

Ibrahim was apprehended after weeks of diligent tracking by the NSCDC, following multiple complaints from victims who claimed they were scammed.

“The suspect, Mu’azu Mohammed Ibrahim, 32 years old, a resident of Sagagi Quarters, Kano Municipal LGA, was arrested after weeks of intense tracking of his whereabouts, following complaints lodged by individuals, mostly women, who had been duped by the suspect of more than N1.2 million,” Abdullahi revealed.

The victims, mostly women, were allegedly deceived by Ibrahim, who posed as a key government official capable of securing them jobs in various government ministries, departments, and agencies. However, the promised employment opportunities were found to be fictitious.

Abdullahi further disclosed that the investigation into the case has been completed, and the suspect will be charged in court by the corps’ legal unit.
