The Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has expelled Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, the lawmaker representing Kiru/Bebeji constituency in the House of Representatives, over allegations of anti-party activities and defaulting on party dues.

The announcement was made on Saturday in Kano by the party’s state chairman, Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, during a briefing with journalists. According to him, the decision was reached after Jibrin repeatedly made public remarks against the NNPP and its leadership.
Dungurawa accused the lawmaker of working against the party’s interest, failing to settle his financial commitments, and openly declaring loyalty outside the NNPP. He added that the party might explore legal action to recover the unpaid dues.
Describing Jibrin as a “weak politician,” Dungurawa said his political relevance was tied to the influence of the Kwankwasiyya movement and the NNPP, not personal strength.
The development comes barely a day after Jibrin hinted that he might exit the party, insisting he was mature enough to chart his own political course. His statement has fueled speculation about a possible return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he previously served.
Dungurawa, however, downplayed the effect of such a move, stressing that NNPP remains intact with firm support for its leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
